Very similar in style to the popular 1800 the Farthingale chair (or back stool), which was created without arms to accommodate the ladies large skirts, and its small, square back and seat were covered with leather stretched across it, trimmed in nail heads up until this time although simple, loose “squab” cushions were still predominant. The back stool came to be known as “an upholsterers’ chair, The  legs on this chair are simple knob turnings and the spreader bars are straight. The chair measures  1 3/4 inches wide x 1 3.4 inches deep x 4 inches high  and is  upholstered in rich green leather with brass studs. The chair has a walnut finish.
